An experience of urban ornithological tourism in Trujillo.
“Trujilleando con Mícales” is an original experience that will allow you to discover and observe the main colonies of the lesser kestrel during a morning while visiting the monuments and history of one of the best preserved and most historic medieval towns in Extremadura.
Accompanied by guides specialized in cultural and natural heritage, you will be able to see the main places where this small raptor, popularly known in the locality as “Mícal”, lives. Huge industrial buildings, medieval palaces, stately homes, religious monuments… are some of the buildings on whose roofs we will see the spectacle of the intense activity of the mice.
In addition, while walking along the parapet of the Arab wall we can see them flying over the exceptional cultural landscape of “El Berrocal” that surrounds the city and where they come in search of food. Then we will finish the activity and we will go in search of ours, in a tasting of cheeses, Iberian and wines of the land that we will do in the Plaza Mayor and with which we will finish the activity if you wish.
This proposal is part of the “Urban Birding” tourism product created around the lesser kestrel, within the framework of the LIFE ZEPAURBAN project financed by the European Union.
The participation of Verdehesa, like many other tourism companies, in this environmental project is very important since the development of a sustainable economic model based on the observation of the lesser kestrel contributes to guaranteeing the future of this endangered species.
